2 years agoSan Francisco Giants catcher Joey Bart (back) is going on the injured list on Sunday with a mild back strain. Sean Hjelle is now active, but the Giants will go with Roberto Perez and Blake Sabol at the catcher position for now with Bart sidelined. Sabol is a Rule 5 pick, so the Giants are trying to figure out if he can stick on the active roster in 2023. The 25-year-old is getting the start on Sunday against the New York Yankees and right-hander Jhony Brito and is hitting eighth in the lineup. Bart was scratched with back tightness on Saturday and will now miss a bit of time early on. The 26-year-old doesn't have an official plate appearance for the Giants yet this year. Sabol got the start in left field on Opening Day and has gone 1-for-4 with a strikeout in his first two big-league games.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
