2 years agoPhiladelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week on Monday. Embiid cruised to the honor during a three-game span that saw him drop 39, 38 and 53 points in consecutive games, respectively. If Embiid had the requisite games played, he would be leading the league at 33.4 PPG, all while nearly averaging a double-double (9.8 boards) for the sixth straight season. That Embiid is having his best season from the field (career-high 53.5 percent) while taking the most shots per game (20.8) of his career solidifies his position as one of the game's preeminent scorers. He'll have just two games this week to try and repeat the honors.--Jesse Borek
