Joe Thuney A Trade Candidate During Draft
5 years agoNew England Patriots left guard Joe Thuney, who signed his franchise tender for $14.78 million, is a candidate to be traded during next week's draft with the team tight against the salary cap. Head coach Bill Belichick would seriously consider dealing Thuney if the team is offered a second- or high third-rounder in exchange for Thuney. The two sides haven't been close on a contract extension, and the Patriots have a big gap between their first pick (No. 23) and their second pick (No. 87), a gap that Belichick would surely like to close. The Patriots have made 42 draft-day trades since 2010, which leads the NFL over that span.
