6 years agoHouston Astros relief pitcher Joe Smith will be placed on the disabled list Sunday. Smith has been part of a generally underwhelming Astros bullpen. In 19 2/3 innings, Smith has a 5.49 ERA and 20 strikeouts. In his place the Astros have called up relief pitcher Reymin Guduan. Guduan had a 7.88 ERA in 16 innings with the Astros in 2017. In 2018, at Triple-A, he has a 3.10 ERA with 43 strikeouts and 18 walks in 29 innings. Given the way this bullpen has looked at times Guduan could stake a claim for high leverage innings if he pitches well.--Ben Rolfe
