4 months agoMinnesota Twins right-hander Joe Ryan's (triceps) injury is worse than the team expected. Ryan is headed to the 15-day injured list and was diagnosed with a Grade 2 teres major strain that will take "weeks to months" to heal, according to manager Rocco Baldelli. The Twins didn't rule him out for the season just yet, but it's certainly more severe than initial indications. It's a major blow to a Twins team looking to get into the postseason. It's also a big blow for Ryan's fantasy managers, as there's a very good chance we won't see him pitch again in 2024. Minnesota will call up right-hander Louie Varland to start Game 2 of a doubleheader on Friday against the visiting division-rival Cleveland Guardians, and he could stick around in the rotation in Ryan's spot for the foreseeable future.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
