Joe Ryan Effective Over Five Innings, Exits Start Early
Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Joe Ryan (wrist) pitched well over five innings before exiting Tuesday's start after being hit on the wrist by a comebacker against the Indians. Ryan pitched five innings, allowing one run on three hits while walking one. The young right-hander struck out five and generated nine whiffs, effectively utilizing his four-pitch mix. Ryan has allowed just four runs through his first 17 innings pitched while recording a 14:2 strikeout-to-walk ratio. While the X-rays on the injury came back negative, the Twins are calling it a right wrist contusion, which could sideline the talented rookie for the remainder of the season.
