Joe Musgrove Struggles Over Three Spring Starts
3 years agoSan Diego Padres starting pitcher Joe Musgrove was knocked around a good amount over his three Spring Training starts. He pitched 11.1 innings and allowed 18 hits, two walks and nine earned runs, amounting to a 7.15 ERA and 1.77 WHIP. He struck out 10 batters along the way. The 29-year-old appears likely to start the team's third game of the year against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday, April 9, though the rotation plans aren't final yet, apart from Yu Darvish starting Opening Day. Don't read into Musgrove's spring struggles too much. He was a great No. 2/No. 3 starter for fantasy managers last year, going 11-9 with a 3.18 ERA and 1.08 WHIP while averaging 10.1 K/9. He's currently ranked as the 20th overall starting pitcher in RotoBaller's rankings.
