Joe Musgrove Not Throwing Full-Intensity Bullpens
6 years agoPittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Joe Musgrove, who had abdominal surgery last October, isn't throwing full-intensity bullpen sessions yet but is done rehabbing. He also had surgery to heal a stress reaction on the front of his pelvic bone. The Pirates are expected to be conservative with Musgrove's workload this spring. He's thrown off a mound already but is easing into the bullpen progression. Musgrove got off to a late start in 2018 and made just 19 starts, going 6-9 with a 4.06 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 7.8 K/9 in a career-high 115 1/3 innings. The right-hander could bounce back with better health, but there are better gambles late in deep mixed league drafts.
