Arizona Diamondbacks left-hander Joe Mantiply will serve as the team's opener on Monday against the Texas Rangers instead of right-hander Slade Cecconi. Mantiply, who was a first-time All-Star with the D-backs last year, isn't likely to go more than a couple innings on Monday in a tough matchup. In his 20 appearances (one start) this year, he's recorded a 6.65 ERA (4.51 FIP), 1.15 WHIP, three walks and 17 strikeouts in 21 2/3 innings of work. His lone start in 2023 came on Aug. 15 against the Colorado Rockies, when he went just one scoreless inning. Cecconi is likely to work as the bulk reliever behind Mantiply in this one, but neither pitchers are recommended DFS streamers on Monday.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Arizona Diamondbacks left-hander Joe Mantiply will get the "start" for Game 4 of the World Series on Tuesday against the visiting Texas Rangers. He'll be opposed by left-hander Andrew Heaney. Mantiply will merely be serving as the opener in what is expected to be a bullpen game for the Diamondbacks as they look to even the series back up at two games apiece. The 32-year-old southpaw struck out one in a scoreless inning of work in Game 1 of the World Series on Friday. He has allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits while walking three and striking out five in 6 1/3 relief innings in this year's postseason. Right-hander Ryne Nelson is the best bet to see the bulk of innings in relief for the Snakes on Tuesday evening.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Arizona Diamondbacks left-hander Joe Mantiply will make the start in Game 4 of the National League Championship Series on Friday against the visiting Philadelphia Phillies in what will be a bullpen game for the D-backs staff. Mantiply will get another shot at the Phillies after allowing three earned runs on three hits while walking two in just one-third of an inning in the Game 2 loss in Philadelphia on Tuesday. In his first three career playoff outings this year, Mantiply threw 2.2 scoreless innings of relief with one walk and two strikeouts. The 32-year-old southpaw should not be started in DFS, as he's likely to go an inning or two on Friday, at the most. Right-hander Ryne Nelson could pitch the bulk of the innings in this "bullpen" game.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

The Arizona Diamondbacks have fielded offers from opposing teams for left-handed pitchers Andrew Chafin and Joe Mantiply, per Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. Chagin has made 43 relief appearances this season, posting a strong 3.13 FIP while maintaining a career-high rate of 12.84 K/9. The 33-year-old, who relies heavily on his sinker and slider, is making $6.25 million this season and comes with a club option for 2023. Meanwhile, Mantiply, 32, is controllable through 2026, making him a more intriguing option for teams with a longer-term focus. He has tossed 15.2 innings this season, racking up a 3.23 xFIP, 8.04 K/9, 0.57 BB/9, and 53.2 GB%. Both players are solid bullpen contributors and could give an extra boost to contenders should Arizona choose to trade them.--Andersen Pickard - RotoBaller

The Arizona Diamondbacks reinstated left-hander Joe Mantiply (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list on Tuesday and optioned right-hander Luis Frias to Triple-A Reno in a corresponding move. Mantiply should return to a high-leverage role in Arizona's bullpen after needing some time to recover from left shoulder fatigue. The 32-year-old southpaw will be making his 2023 season debut when he gets into a game. He was a first-time All-Star in 2022 in his fifth year in the big leagues. Mantiply was impressive with a career-best 2.85 ERA (2.83 FIP), 1.08 WHIP, two saves, six walks and 61 strikeouts in 60 innings over 69 relief appearances. He has value in fantasy leagues that count holds.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
