Joc Pederson Batting Fifth On Opening Day
4 years agoChicago Cubs outfielder Joc Pederson will be hitting fifth in his Cubs debut against Chad Kuhl and the Pittsburgh Pirates on Opening Day. Pederson had a strong spring training, hitting eight home runs, and is hoping to find more consistent playing time and production in his first year with the Cubs. Pederson has proven to be an elite power hitter, but his struggles against lefties really held him back in Los Angeles. He's slashed just .191/.266/.310 against lefties in his career and as a result, the Dodgers regularly benched him when lefties were on the mound. The Cubs might be tentative to use him against lefties as well, but the right-handed Kuhl is a good matchup for him. Pederson is 1-for-6 with a home run and two strikeouts against Kuhl over his career.
