JJ Bleday Called Up Saturday
2 years agoThe Miami Marlins promoted top prospect JJ Bleday to the MLB roster on Saturday. The 24-year-old outfielder is a former first-round draft pick and has been a top 100 prospect for three seasons since being drafted in 2019. Although he has fallen out of the MLB Pipeline top 100 mid-season rankings, he is still the Marlins' number four prospect. He's had a tough time hitting for average in the minors but seems to have found his power stroke this season, bashing 20 homers over 367 plate appearances. He will strike out quite a bit, but also walks at a good rate. He isn't in the starting lineup tonight, which likely indicates he won't play every day against lefties for now. In deeper leagues, if you need power or play in an OBP league, he could be worth an add.
