Jhoulys Chacin Steps Up In Tiebreaker
6 years agoMilwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Jhoulys Chacin held the Cubs down for 5 2/3 innings Monday. Going into the game, the Cubs held the perceived advantage in the early parts of the game given Jose Quintana had faced the Brewers six times in 2018 with strong results. Quintana did his job but Chacin matched him by allowing only one run. His deep run turned it into a battle of the late bullpen, which shifted the balance to Milwaukee who has multiple dominant relievers. In fact, Chacin left the Cubs an opening of 1 out in between himself and the two masters who finished the last three innings in shutdown fashion. The Brewers would take back the lead in the eighth inning and held on for a 3-1 victory. His next start will come in the NLDS against the Wild Card winner.
