The Winnipeg Jets have placed forward Axel Jonsson-Fjallby on waivers in order to clear a roster spot for star center Mark Scheifele, who has been activated off of Injured Reserve. The 25-year-old has recorded two goals and five points across 26 games with the Jets this season, giving him 10 goals and 23 points across 99 career NHL games split between the Jets and Washington Capitals, who drafted him in the fifth round of the 2016 NHL Entry draft. He also has three goals and five points in 10 American Hockey League games with the Manitoba Moose this season. Scheifele has been out since Jan. 11 due to a lower-body injury, but it was announced on Monday he was expected to return for Tuesday night's contest versus the hosting Pittsburgh Penguins.--Brenton Kemp
