Jets Don't Think Sam Darnold Has Regressed
6 years agoDespite New York Jets rookie quarterback Sam Darnold's recent struggles, the team doesn't feel like he has regressed since the beginning of the season. He has a 43.3 passer rating in the last three games and threw four interceptions in the Week 9 loss to the Dolphins. The Jets won't even consider benching Darnold in favor of veteran Josh McCown. He currently leads the NFL with 14 interceptions. It hasn't helped Darnold that receiver Jermaine Kearse has been his top receiver for several weeks in a row. He got both Robby Anderson and Quincy Enunwa back from injury in Week 9, but it didn't matter. Darnold is going through the normal bumps and bruises of a rookie season, but the weapons around him are very mediocre as well. For the foreseeable future Darnold will remain a low-end QB2.
