Jesus Luzardo Punches Out Seven In No-Decision
2 years agoMiami Marlins starting pitcher Jesus Luzardo took a no-decision on Tuesday after allowing one run on five hits with seven strikeouts and one walk across six innings in a 5-4 win over the Washington Nationals. Luzardo certainly pitched well enough to earn the victory in this one but it took some late-game heroics from Jorge Soler, who walked it off in the bottom of the ninth inning, for the Marlins to pull off the win. The only blemish on an otherwise rock-solid outing from the 25-year-old southpaw was a Lane Thomas solo shot in the top of the sixth inning. Luzardo will carry a 3-2 record, 3.16 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, and a 55:17 K/BB ratio over 51 1/3 innings (nine starts) into his next turn against the Giants on the road this Sunday. He'll aim to pick up his third straight quality start in that one.
