Jerry Blevins Announces Retirement
4 years agoLeft-handed reliever Jerry Blevins announced his retirement on Tuesday after 13 major league seasons, the majority of that time with the Oakland Athletics and New York Mets. The 37-year-old southpaw last pitched for the Atlanta Braves in 2019, and he had been working at the New York Mets alternate training site after not making the team out of spring training. Blevins was a 17th-round pick by the Chicago Cubs back in 2004 and made his major league debut with the A's in 2007. He had two of his best seasons with the Mets in 2016 and 2017. Blevins will finish his career with a 30-13 record, a 3.54 ERA and seven saves in 609 games.
