1 year agoKansas City Chiefs running back Jerick McKinnon (groin) is expected to return to practice on Thursday after sitting out Wednesday's session. McKinnon did not suit up in Week 12's win over the division-rival Las Vegas Raiders, but the fact that he's set to return to the practice field on Thursday will give him a shot to return this Sunday when the team faces off against the Packers in Green Bay. If the 31-year-old is cleared, he'll resume his role as KC's primary pass-catching back behind lead back Isiah Pacheco. McKinnon does have three receiving touchdowns, but his usage has been on the low side on a weekly basis through 10 games in his third year with the team. At best, McKinnon will be an RB3/flex option in deeper PPR leagues in Week 13 if he's active. UPDATE: McKinnon was limited Thursday.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

1 year agoKansas City Chiefs running back Jerick McKinnon (groin) is officially active for Sunday's Super Bowl against the San Francisco 49ers. He had been listed as questionable, and there still seemed to be some uncertainty surrounding his status even after the Chiefs activated him from injured reserve on Saturday. In the end, the talented, pass-catching veteran is active for the first time since December 17th, when he totaled 11 rushing yards, 19 receiving yards, and one touchdown against New England. He remains behind Isiah Pacheco and Clyde Edwards-Helaire on the depth chart but should earn some snaps, particularly on passing downs.--Andersen Pickard - RotoBaller

1 year agoKansas City Chiefs running back Jerick McKinnon (groin) has been activated from the injured reserve on Saturday. The hope is that McKinnon will be ready to go in time for the Super Bowl on Sunday. At the moment, McKinnon should be considered a game-time decision as the Chiefs will likely wait until the last second to make a final decision. Isiah Pacheco has been getting a bulk of the carries lately. He figures to remain the primary option in the backfield. However, McKinnon could be an interesting red zone option if he's cleared to play.--Andy Webb - RotoBaller

1 year agoKansas City Chiefs running back Jerick McKinnon (groin) was limited in practice all week and is officially listed as questionable for Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday versus the San Francisco 49ers. McKinnon was designated to return from Injured Reserve last weekend, but he's technically still on IR, and head coach Andy Reid said earlier this week it was unlikely that McKinnon would play in the Super Bowl. The 31-year-old pass-catching specialist hasn't played since Week 15, so even if he was surprisingly activated from IR and active on Sunday, he'd almost certainly be playing a small role in KC's backfield as the No. 3 behind Isiah Pacheco and Clyde Edwards-Helaire.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

1 year agoKansas City Chiefs running backs Jerick McKinnon (groin) and Clyde Edwards-Helaire (illness) were both limited in the team's practice on Thursday. McKinnon remains on Injured Reserve, hasn't played since Week 15 and is unlikely to be activated in order to play in Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers. Meanwhile, Edwards-Helaire pops up on the injury report for the first time while being under the weather, but the 24-year-old should be fine in time for Sunday's big game. Isiah Pacheco (ankle, toe) has been practicing in full this week and will play this weekend, which will leave little for CEH in KC's backfield in order to make some noise for fantasy managers in DFS. In the team's three playoff games this year, Edwards-Helaire has just 10 carries for 53 yards and no touchdowns for the Chiefs.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
