Jeff Wilson Jr. Likely Touchdown-Dependent In Week 17
2 years agoMiami Dolphins running back Jeff Wilson Jr. is gearing up for a Week 17 clash against the New England Patriots in which Miami could take a run-heavy approach after Tua Tagovailoa (concussion) was ruled out. Teddy Bridgewater will start under center, and since he isn't as talented of a passer as Tagovailoa, Miami might look to get the ball in its running backs' hands more often. While Wilson continues to play second-fiddle to Raheem Mostert, the former is a safer bet to find the end zone. Wilson is averaging 0.7 touchdowns per game since joining the Dolphins in Week 9. During that same span, Mostert is averaging less than 0.3 touchdowns per game, and he hasn't scored since before the Dolphins' Week 11 bye. Still, Wilson faces a tough opponent in the Patriots, whose defense has allowed the second-fewest fantasy points to running backs this season. Thus, Wilson will likely need a touchdown in order to be worth starting in fantasy football this week. Fantasy managers should weigh all their options and recognize that Wilson has a relatively low floor in Week 17.
