Jeff McNeil Could Play Outfield Against Righties
6 years agoNew York Mets general manager Brodie Van Wagenen said that infielder Jeff McNeil's focus this spring will be "a transition to the outfield because we think we can be a lethal lineup with a McNeil, Conforto, Nimmo outfield against right-handed pitching." McNeil was never a big prospect for the Mets through the minors, but the 26-year-old hit .329/.381/.471 with three home runs, 19 RBI and seven stolen bases in 225 at-bats in his rookie season. Playing-time concerns keep his fantasy value down with Robinson Cano being the everyday starter at the keystone, but adding outfield eligibility will make McNeil slightly more attractive in deep mixed and NL-only leagues against right-handed pitchers.
