Jedd Gyorko Suffers Setback
5 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals infielder Jedd Gyorko (back, calf) will remain on the injured list after he felt his left calf tighten up while running the bases on Monday. He was scheduled to be activated from the injured list on Tuesday. Manager Mike Shildt said Gyorko will need to remain on the injured list for up to another week. Rangel Ravelo and Tommy Edman, one of whom will likely be sent back to the minors when Gyorko returns, will remain with the team for now. It's the second time that Gyorko has been bothered by a calf ailment, and he's been on the injured list four times in the last two years because of lower-body injuries. The 30-year-old is hitting just .196 on the year with two homers and seven RBI, so he should be left to the waiver wire in mixed leagues when he's back.
