Jean Segura Waives No-Trade Clause
6 years agoSeattle Mariners shortstop Jean Segura has waived his no-trade clause to go from the Mariners to the Phillies in a proposed trade that is expected to include first baseman Carlos Santana, according to a source. Phillies shortstop J.P. Crawford is also expected to go to Seattle along with Santana. There could be other players involved in the package, but the deal is not officially completed yet. The M's are tearing everything down and rebuilding and have already agreed to send second baseman Robinson Cano and closer Edwin Diaz to the Mets. Segura does a little bit of everything and has even more upside in a nice hitting environment in Philadelphia. If the Phils indeed land Segura, it won't stop them from pursuing free-agent shortstop Manny Machado to play third base. Philadelphia could also go after free-agent outfielder Bryce Harper and starting pitcher Patrick Corbin.
