Jazz Chisholm Jr. Homers Twice Monday
8 months agoNew York Yankees third baseman/outfielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. had a strong offensive showing with his new team in Monday's 14-4 win over the Phillies. Making his first career start at third base and batting sixth, Chisholm Jr. went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a two-run HR, a walk, and a strikeout. He was also picked off first base. The 26-year-old took Zack Wheeler deep in the second inning and put an exclamation point on the game by taking Garrett Stubbs deep in the ninth inning. The change of venue should help Chisholm Jr. find his power swing, as he has produced just a .420 slugging percentage with 15 HR this season. However, he managed to provide 49 runs and 53 RBI in a much weaker Marlins lineup with 23 stolen bases. Chisholm Jr.'s fantasy value should rise with his move to the Yankees, especially if he can gain third-base eligibility.

Jazz Chisholm Blasts Two More Homers
4 days agoNew York Yankees second baseman Jazz Chisholm had a huge day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two home runs and five RBI in Sunday's 12-3 victory over the Brewers. This brings his home run total to three for the season, and he seems to be picking up right where he left off from 2024. He tallied 11 homers and 18 steals in 46 games after joining New York last season and is a legitimate 40-40 threat if he can stay healthy all year. He'll need a couple more games played before gaining second base eligibility for fantasy, but he has a good chance to dethrone Ketel Marte for the top spot at the position once he does.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. Goes Deep On Saturday
5 days agoNew York Yankees second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. went 2-for-5 with two runs and an RBI during their demanding 20-9 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday afternoon. In the second inning, Chisholm hit a line drive single to left field. He would eventually score on an Anthony Volpe home run. Later in the third, Chisholm would go deep for his first time this season. After not tallying a hit in the season opening on Thursday, the 27-year-old enjoyed a nice bounce-back showing in the second game of the season. After being traded to the Yankees last season, Chisholm saw his offensive production soar as he posted a .273/.325/.500 slash line with 11 home runs and 18 stolen bases. He remains a must-start option batting in the heart of a potent Yankee lineup. He will look to stay hot on Sunday facing Milwaukee right-hander Aaron Civale.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. Expected To Play Second Base In 2025
2 months agoNew York Yankees manager Aaron Boone said on WFAN 660 on Tuesday that infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. is expected to start at second base in 2025, with DJ LeMahieu, Oswaldo Cabrera and Oswald Peraza competing at third base "right now." In addition to likely being the starting second baseman for the Bombers this season, Boone also mentioned Chisholm, along with young outfielder Jasson Dominguez, as an option to hit leadoff. The 26-year-old played third for the Yanks in the second half last year after they acquired him from the Miami Marlins, but he'll now be shifting to the keystone with Gleyber Torres leaving in free agency. Not only did Chisholm stay healthy and play in a season-high 147 games in 2024, but he enjoyed the Bronx, slashing .273/.325/.500 with an .825 OPS, 11 homers and 18 steals in 46 regular-season games. Injury risk is still there, but with second base eligibility coming, Chisholm's fantasy arrow is pointing directly up.

Jazz Chisholm Jr., Yankees Avoid Arbitration
3 months agoAccording to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, the New York Yankees and infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. have agreed to a one-year contract worth $5.85 million to avoid arbitration. The 26-year-old began the 2024 season with the Miami Marlins but was eventually traded to the New York Yankees during the stretch run. Across 147 games last summer, Chisholm held a .256/.324/.436 line with 24 home runs and 40 stolen bases. However, in 46 games with the Yankees, Chisholm performed very well as he held a .273/.325/.500 line with 11 home runs. The 26-year-old was deployed primarily at the hot corner during his short tenure with the Yankees last season but could move to the keystone as the Yankees are actively trying to add another infielder to their roster. Chisholm carries an elite combination of power and speed and should be viewed as a high-end third baseman in standard category leagues.
