6 years agoThe New York Mets placed starting pitcher Jason Vargas on the 10-day injured list on Monday with a hamstring strain. In a corresponding move, Corey Oswalt was called up from Triple-A Syracuse. He's an option to make some starts in Vargas' place in the rotation, but he'd only be a streamer in the deepest of leagues. Vargas pitched four innings on Sunday against the Brewers before his hamstring tightened up. The veteran southpaw is now 1-2 on the year with an ugly 5.92 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 20 K's in 24 1/3 innings (six starts).
