Jason Vargas Allows One Run, Takes Loss
6 years agoWhile New York Mets starting pitcher Jason Vargas failed to make it through five innings, he walked off the mound to a nice ovation Wednesday night at Citi Field. The 36-year-old went just 4 2/3 innings, allowing just one run on three hits, walking two and striking out four. The left-hander has been a major disappointment since signing with the club prior to last year, but this was one of his better performances despite the loss. Vargas' next outing is scheduled for Tuesday back at Citi Field against the Cincinnati Reds.
