Jared McCann Signs Two-Year Extension in Sunrise
6 years agoThe Florida Panthers came to terms with restricted free-agent center Jared McCann on a two-year contract. The 2014 first-round pick set a career high with 28 points for the Panthers last season and matched his career-high nine goals from his rookie season, then with the Vancouver Canucks. McCann is just coming off his entry-level deal and hasn’t quite reached his potential at the NHL level. This bridge deal, which carries a $1.25 million dollar annual salary cap hit, is a prudent signing for the Panthers, who still feel McCann has more to show. McCann at the moment has a ceiling of a bottom-six role but is a quick, two-way center who is looking to improve his game in Florida. It remains to be seen if he will even be a regular in the Panthers NHL lineup this season. His fantasy value is minimal at the moment, but there is potential for the Stratford, Ontario native.
