Jared Hughes Earns Sixth Save Of Season Wednesday
6 years agoCincinnati Reds relief pitcher Jared Hughes earned his sixth save of the season on Wednesday against the White Sox. Hughes entered the game with a two-run lead and one out in the eighth inning and proceeded to pitch 1 2/3 innings, allowing no runs on a hit and a walk with two strikeouts. Hughes was merely filling in for closer Raisel Iglesias, who had pitched in the past three games, but he has been a serviceable fantasy option in his own right, posting a 1.37 ERA with two wins, two saves, and eight holds in 46 IP. With Iglesias' name floating around the trade market, Hughes' fantasy value could go up if Iglesias were to get dealt and Hughes were to stay in Cincinnati as the closer.
