Jared Goff Remains A QB2 Ahead Of Week 5
5 years agoLos Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff found himself in the record books after a Week 4 55-40 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers; he completed 45 passes on an absurd 68 attempts (third most in NFL history) for 517 passing yards and two TDs. While this stat line looks extraordinary, as with most of Goff’s performances, there is more than what meets the eye. After all, the fourth-year QB had major issues with ball security, committing four turnovers (three interceptions and one fumble), with each coming during key moments throughout the game. However, thanks to a negative game script and a strong Tampa Bay defensive front that stalled the ground game, Goff was forced to pass more and was able to return solid fantasy value. Facing the Seahawks, who like the Buccaneers have a solid rushing defense but a weak secondary, could force the Rams and head coach Sean McVay to continue to rely on Goff’s arm. Expect the fourth-year quarterback to be a QB2 with QB1 upside if he can limit his turnovers.
