Jameson Taillon Whiffs Five In No-Decision
3 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Jameson Taillon rebounded from a poor start his last time out but didn't factor into the decision in Friday's loss to the Oakland Athletics. Taillon pitched 4 2/3 innings, surrendering two runs on four hits while walking one batter. He struck out five and registered 11 whiffs on 76 pitches. Taillon would have seemed to have enough left in the tank to finish off the fifth inning, though manager Aaron Boone opted to go to the bullpen with the go-ahead run on base. The former Pirate still sports an ugly 5.59 ERA and 1.34 WHIP, though his strikeout rate, expected wOBA, and expected ERA point to better days ahead.
