The Carolina Hurricanes acquired goaltender James Reimer from the Florida Panthers on Saturday in exchange for goaltender Scott Darling and a sixth-round pick in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. Reimer managed a 13-12-5 record, 3.09 goals-against average and .900 save percentage last season for the Cats. The Hurricanes are looking for a replacement for Curtis McElhinney, who is not expected to be back, and potentially for Petr Mrazek, if the team cannot re-sign him. 'Optimus Reim' isn't a bad backup plan, although Alex Nedeljkovic might be the best option in the organization.--Daniel Dobish
