James Hoyt Traded To The Angels
4 years agoThe Miami Marlins and Los Angeles Angels have agreed to a trade that will send relief pitcher James Hoyt to the Angels in exchange for cash considerations. Hoyt was great for the Marlins in 2020, posting a 1.23 ERA with 20 strikeouts in 14 2/3 innings. Underlying metrics show that regression could be coming, and that combined with Hoyt's spring struggles meant he was not going to make the team for Opening Day. Rather than sending the 34-year-old to the minors, the Marlins sent him west, where he'll likely pitch in middle relief for a much-improved Angels bullpen.
