Jakub Vrana Gets Three Points In Top Line Promotion
7 years agoWashington Capitals forward Jakub Vrana scored his second goal of the postseason and notched a pair of assists in last night's 6-3 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins. Vrana assisted on Brett Conolly's goal late in the first period to make is 2-1 Washington while still playing on the third line, and was then promoted to the top line with Alex Ovechkin and Evgeny Kuznetsov in the third period. It was on that line that Vrana assisted on Kuznetsov's sixth playoff goal and eventually scored what would be the game-winner later in the period. Assuming he remains on that line for Game 6, Vrana is almost a must-add for daily lineups.

Jakub Vrana Rejoins Capitals Lineup
4 months agoWashington Capitals left wing Jakub Vrana will re-enter the lineup for Monday's tilt against Dallas. The 28-year-old has been a healthy scratch for the last 10 games. Vrana was sent to the press box for an extended period after he had seven points (four goals, three assists) in 16 games across the season. Considering he's averaged barely 10 minutes of ice time, these are fairly decent numbers, but it looks like the team wants to see more from Vrana. He will skate on the third line against the Stars, replacing Hendrix Lapierre in the lineup.

Jakub Vrana Sits As Healthy Scratch Saturday
4 months agoWashington Capitals left wing Jakub Vrana will miss Saturday's game against New Jersey as a healthy scratch. He returns to the press box following a seven-game spell in the team. Vrana's role has been very limited on the team, as he's averaging barely over 10 minutes of ice time for the season, but the 28-year-old has contributed four goals and three assists in 18 outings. Ivan Miroshnichenko will take Vrana's spot in the lineup for his season debut. The 20-year-old gets a big opportunity as a first-liner on Saturday. Miroshnichenko has had a strong start to the campaign in the minors, notching seven goals and 14 points in 16 AHL appearances.

Jakub Vrana Scratched On Sunday
5 months agoWashington Capitals left wing Jakub Vrana will sit out Sunday's contest against Carolina as a healthy scratch. The Czech forward has collected points in two consecutive games and has done well in a limited role with the team, but Capitals head coach Spencer Carbery wants to give Sonny Milano some playing time as Washington completes a back-to-back. Milano has skated in just one game this season, logging 5:52 of ice time in Washington's season-opening 5-3 loss to New Jersey. He likely won't play a big role in Sunday's game.

Jakub Vrana Signs One-Year Contract With Capitals
6 months agoLeft wing Jakub Vrana has agreed to a one-year contract with the Washington Capitals. The deal is a league minimum of $775,000. Vrana spent training camp and preseason with the Capitals on a professional tryout agreement. It marks a return to D.C. for Vrana, who began his NHL career with the Capitals in 2016-17. He was dealt to the Detroit Red Wings in 2021, and Vrana spent the previous couple of campaigns in the St. Louis Blues organization. The 28-year-old mostly featured in the AHL last season. Vrana's career has been on a downward spiral, but he has previously proven that he can be an impactful player. In 367 career appearances, Vrana has produced 110 goals and 209 points.
