4 years agoKansas City Royals pitcher Jakob Junis has added a cutter to his arsenal and has been throwing it a lot this spring. Junis has leaned heavily on his slider and four-seam fastball over his career. He threw his slider 46.2% of the time in 2020 and threw his four-seamer 34.8% of the time. In addition to adding a cutter this offseason, Junis has also been tinkering with his changeup, which he threw just 4.3% of the time. Junis has seen great results from his arsenal change this spring. Over seven innings, he's allowed just two hits and one earned run while striking out 10 and yielding zero walks. He figures to be the Royals' fifth starter to open the year, but the team may not need him to start a game for a few weeks, so he could start the season in long relief.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
