Jake Woodford Falls One Out Shy Of A Quality Start
3 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals pitcher Jake Woodford was called up from Triple-A to make a start on Monday and pitched well, falling one out away from a quality start. He still earned the win, improving his record to 2-1. He pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowing just one run on six hits, striking out six without issuing a walk. Woodford was working in middle relief earlier in the season, but he was optioned to Triple-A to stretch out into a starter. So far, so good, but it's only one start. Woodford has a 4.06 ERA in 31 innings at the big league level this year.
