6 months agoTampa Bay Lightning left wing Jake Guentzel (undisclosed) will make his team debut on Friday versus Carolina. The prolific winger suffered an undisclosed injury in practice at the start of the week but has shaken off the ailment ahead of Tampa's season opener. It's a special matchup for Guentzel, who finished the 2023-24 campaign with the Hurricanes. He had an impressive run with the team, scoring eight goals and 25 points in 17 regular-season appearances. Guentzel will surely be eager to show the Hurricanes what they are missing. He'll be paired with Nikita Kucherov and Brayden Point on the top line and should soak in plenty of power-play action as a member of the first unit.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

4 weeks agoTampa Bay Lightning left wing Jake Guentzel scored a hat trick during their victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday evening. Guentzel would do all of his damage in the second period. His first two goals were scored during 5-on-5 play while his final was scored on the power-play. This performance extended his scoring streak to two games as he found the back of the net twice in their previous contest. Over his past eight games, Guentzel has found the back of the net five times and added six helpers, with three of his points coming on the power-play. The 30-year-old remains a must-start option in all formats as he is on pace to set a career-high in goals surpassing his 2021 total of 40.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

2 months agoTampa Bay Lightning left wing Jake Guentzel will look to maintain his red-hot form for Team USA in Monday's 4 Nations Face-Off action against Team Sweden. The speedy winger sits among the tournament's most prolific players, having netted two points in each of his first two outings with the U.S. Guentzel finished the tournament opener against Finland with a goal and an assist and found the back of the net twice on Saturday against Canada. He has lit the lamp at the tournament three times with nine shots on goal. Guentzel also had two points in his last outing with the Lightning before the 4 Nations Face-Off, giving him a chance to register his fourth multi-point appearance overall on Monday.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

3 months agoTampa Bay Lightning left wing Jake Guentzel (upper body) is considered day-to-day. The prolific winger exited Saturday's game against the Rangers in the third period with an upper-body injury. Guentzel was initially expected to play in Sunday's matchup versus Montreal, but he didn't hit the ice. Cam Atkinson started the contest on the first line, with Michael Eyssimont (lower body) filling the open spot in the lineup after missing Saturday's action with a minor injury. Following Sunday, Tampa Bay will be off until Thursday, giving Guentzel some good time to heal, and his absence might be limited to only one game. Guentzel has crushed it with the Lightning this season, notching 20 goals and 37 points in 33 games.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

3 months agoAccording to Eduardo A. Encina of the Tampa Bay Times, Tampa Bay Lightning left wing Jake Guentzel (undisclosed) left early during Saturday's game against the Rangers but is not expected to miss any time. Head coach Jon Cooper noted that, "If we don't have to play them, we don't play them so he should be good tomorrow." Before exiting, Guentzel tallied a goal and an assist during their 6-2 victory over the New York Rangers. Guentzel scored his 20th goal of the season on the power play and tallied his assist on the man advantage as well. Over his past 11 contests, Guentzel has found the back of the net 11 times, including five times on the power play. He remains a must-start forward in all formats heading into his matchup on Sunday against the Montreal Canadiens.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller
