Jake Faria Strong Wednesday Versus Texas
7 years agoTampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Jake Faria had a strong outing Wednesday versus Philadelphia. He went six innings, allowing only one run with six strikeouts. He holds an ERA of 5.82 but that is overwhelmingly influenced by his disastrous outing versus the Yankees, where he allowed eight runs in only 1 2/3 innings. In his three other outings, Faria has gone 15 1/3 innings, having allowed only three runs. In his 86 2/3 innings in the majors during 2017, Faria struck out 84 batters while issuing only 31 walks. Perhaps the biggest concern is that he also gave up 11 home runs in those 86 2/3 innings. Faria is slated to be the third starter for the Rays and should be owned in most 12-team leagues.
