Jake Eder Likely To Debut In Wednesday's Doubleheader
4 months agoChicago White Sox manager Pedro Grifol made it sound likely that left-handed pitching prospect Jake Eder, who is serving as the 27th man on Wednesday for the doubleheader against the visiting Minnesota Twins, will make his major-league debut out of the bullpen. Grifol said there's "a good chance." "If I get the opportunity to put him in, I'm putting him in there. I'm not going to hesitate at all. I have confidence in him, we all do. That's why he's here. It'll be nice to see him. He's a big part of the future," Grifol added. The 25-year-old southpaw was recalled from Double-A Birmingham after posting a 5.09 ERA with 86 strikeouts and 31 walks in 74 1/3 innings for the Barons. Eder is the team's No. 10 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, but he's likely to head right back to Birmingham after Wednesday's twin bill.
