2 years agoChicago White Sox third baseman Jake Burger (side) left Wednesday's game early against the Minnesota Twins with left-side discomfort and is being further evaluated by the medical staff. Before leaving, he was 0-for-2 in the contest with a strikeout to drop his season batting average to .224. He was replaced at the hot corner by Hanser Alberto. The 27-year-old Burger injured himself on a swing in the fourth inning and was grabbing at his left side. It sounds like an oblique injury, which could easily land Burger on the injured list. Burger entered Wednesday's game hitting .231 (15-for-65) with five doubles, seven home runs, 14 RBI and 11 runs scored in 22 games played. He had been seeing regular playing time with Yoan Moncada (back) on the IL, but Alberto could now shift into regular third base duty if Burger also needs an IL stint.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

8 months agoMiami Marlins corner infielder Jake Burger continued his hot hitting on Tuesday versus the division-rival Philadelphia Phillies. Burger went 1-for-4 on the night with a walk and a solo home run. Despite getting off to a slow start and being hurt with injuries in the first half of the season, the slugger has been on an insane tear of late. Over the last month, Burger is hitting .330 with 13 homers and 19 RBI in 91 at-bats. Burger's Statcast profile backs up his power surge, as he has been hitting and barreling balls thrown to him at a very high rate. Although he will likely cool off at some point, the power is legit and should remain. Burger has given patient fantasy managers every reason to be happy and has become a must-start with his recent hot streak.--Daniel Burdeen - RotoBaller

8 months agoMiami Marlins slugger Jake Burger had a monster game on Sunday as the Fish beat the San Diego Padres 7-6. Burger went 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBI, and three runs scored in Sunday's victory. His two-run blast came in the second inning off of the Padres ace Dylan Cease. Burger has 22 home runs on the season and has hit one in three straight games. He has been scorching hot lately, slashing .379/.438/.931 in his last seven contests. He is available in 16% of Yahoo! leagues and should definitely be on all fantasy manager's radars as the season comes into its final stretch.--Jake Kleiner - RotoBaller

8 months agoMiami Marlins first baseman/third baseman Jake Burger has continued to showcase his power, going deep for the second time in as many games on Wednesday afternoon and the third time in the past week. During this stretch, the 28-year-old has posted three multi-hit performances with a .850 SLG. The Missouri State product has swung a hot bat through all of July with a .287/.354/.609 line and eight home runs, which is a stark contrast to the underwhelming .213/.246/.322 line and four home runs he held through May and June. Burger is emerging as a strong streaming option in all leagues and is worth a look in DFS as he continues this hot stretch.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

9 months agoMiami Marlins third baseman Jake Burger homered and drove in four runs Saturday in a 10-6 loss to the Cincinnati Reds. On the season, Burger is hitting .225 with 10 home runs, 35 RBI, zero stolen bases and 29 runs scored. In July, he's hitting .275 with three home runs, eight RBI, and five runs scored. There are signs that Burger is finally starting to shake off his season-long slump and be a run-producing player for the Marlins, which means he could also be on the trade market ahead of the end-of-July trade deadline.--Mike Carter - RotoBaller
