Chicago White Sox second baseman Jake Burger had a big night in a 6-3 loss to the Cleveland Guardians on Thursday. Burger went 2-for-3 with two homers, a walk, and three RBI in the losing effort. The 27-year-old infielder was the only Chicago hitter who could get to Cleveland rookie right-hander Tanner Bibee in the loss, driving in all of his team's runs via the long ball. Burger is now slashing .217/.273/.528 with 24 homers, 42 runs, 51 RBI, and a steal. He will look to stay hot against Cleveland's Xzavion Curry on Friday.--Matt T - RotoBaller

Texas Rangers corner infielder Jake Burger could be recalled from Triple-A Round Rock before Monday's series opener against the Colorado Rockies, according to the Dallas Morning News' Evan Grant. Burger has spent 10 days in the minors following his early-season demotion, so he's now eligible to return to the big-league roster if Texas wants him back. The 29-year-old right-handed slugger has gone 9-for-23 with two homers, a double, six RBI and five runs scored in his six games played for Round Rock, and he should be back with the Rangers this week as their regular first baseman despite hitting only .190/.232/.330 with a .562 OPS, three home runs, 12 RBI, 13 runs and 32 strikeouts in his first 30 games played for the team this year. Anyone looking for a corner-infield power in deeper fantasy leagues should consider scooping Burger up off the waiver wire if he's available.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Texas Rangers first baseman Jake Burger has been optioned to Triple-A Round Rock on Thursday. The organization is hopeful that Burger can reset in the minors after an awful start to the season. Burger is slashing .190/.231/.330 with three homers and 12 RBI this season in Texas. He has shown the ability to play at the MLB level considering he smacked 29 long balls last season. Hopefully, Burger will be back in the majors shortly after getting his swing back in the minors. In a corresponding move, Blaine Crim has been recalled to take his spot on the roster. Crim has put together good numbers in the minors throughout the last few seasons. He has posted 20 homers or more in four straight seasons in the minor leagues. He could be worth a look in deep leagues, assuming he gets regular at-bats in Texas.--Andy Webb - RotoBaller

Texas Rangers first baseman Jake Burger (illness) is back at first base and is hitting seventh for the Rangers on Wednesday against the division-rival Los Angeles Angels and right-hander Jose Soriano at Globe Life Park. Burger missed the series-opening win over the Halos on Tuesday with a mild illness but will return for the second game of the series. The 29-year-old right-handed power hitter has gotten off to a slow start in his first year in Texas, going 8-for-53 (.151) with two home runs, two doubles, seven RBI, only one walk and 15 strikeouts in 15 games played. Although he resides in a strong Rangers lineup, the fact that he's hitting near the bottom of the order gives him a low fantasy ceiling for DFS gamers. Burger has never faced Soriano in his career.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Texas Rangers first baseman Jake Burger (illness) is out of the starting lineup for Tuesday's series opener against the division-rival Los Angeles Angels at Globe Life Field, but he might be available to come off the bench if needed, according to manager Bruce Bochy. Ezequiel Duran is starting at the cold corner and is hitting eighth against Angels left-hander Yusei Kikuchi. The fact that Burger could be available off the bench means that his illness isn't all that serious, and fantasy managers should expect him to return for Game 2 of the series on Wednesday. Burger is off to a slow start in 2025 in his first year in Texas, batting .151 (8-for-53) with two home runs, two doubles, seven RBI and 15 punchouts in his first 15 games played. Duran has gone hitless in his first 11 at-bats this year and will be a low-upside DFS option at the bottom of the batting order. He's gone hitless in two career at-bats versus Kikuchi.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
