Miami Marlins third baseman Jake Burger (oblique) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list on Monday and is back at third base while hitting third in the series opener in Los Angeles against the Dodgers and right-hander Walker Buehler, who is making his first start in the big leagues since 2022. Burger is returning from a left-intercostal strain that caused him to miss the last few weeks. The 28-year-old right-handed slugger isn't going to help your fantasy team's batting average, but his power potential makes him worth rostering in at least deep-mixed leagues. In 57 at-bats before going on the injured list, Burger was hitting .228 (13-for-57) with three home runs, 15 RBI and eight runs scored. Burger hit a career-high 34 home runs in 141 games last year with the Marlins and White Sox.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Texas Rangers first baseman Jake Burger (illness) is back at first base and is hitting seventh for the Rangers on Wednesday against the division-rival Los Angeles Angels and right-hander Jose Soriano at Globe Life Park. Burger missed the series-opening win over the Halos on Tuesday with a mild illness but will return for the second game of the series. The 29-year-old right-handed power hitter has gotten off to a slow start in his first year in Texas, going 8-for-53 (.151) with two home runs, two doubles, seven RBI, only one walk and 15 strikeouts in 15 games played. Although he resides in a strong Rangers lineup, the fact that he's hitting near the bottom of the order gives him a low fantasy ceiling for DFS gamers. Burger has never faced Soriano in his career.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Texas Rangers first baseman Jake Burger (illness) is out of the starting lineup for Tuesday's series opener against the division-rival Los Angeles Angels at Globe Life Field, but he might be available to come off the bench if needed, according to manager Bruce Bochy. Ezequiel Duran is starting at the cold corner and is hitting eighth against Angels left-hander Yusei Kikuchi. The fact that Burger could be available off the bench means that his illness isn't all that serious, and fantasy managers should expect him to return for Game 2 of the series on Wednesday. Burger is off to a slow start in 2025 in his first year in Texas, batting .151 (8-for-53) with two home runs, two doubles, seven RBI and 15 punchouts in his first 15 games played. Duran has gone hitless in his first 11 at-bats this year and will be a low-upside DFS option at the bottom of the batting order. He's gone hitless in two career at-bats versus Kikuchi.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Texas Rangers third baseman Jake Burger went 1-for-3 with a double and two strikeouts in Sunday's 3-1 loss to the Seattle Mariners. It's the 29-year-old's second double of the season and fourth extra-base-hit in total (two home runs). Burger is off to a sluggish start at the dish in 2025, carrying a .151/.182/.302 slash line with a 1/15 K:BB ratio over his first 15 games. Unfortunately, even the under-the-hood numbers are poor, as the former first-round pick's average exit velocity (89.1) and hard-hit rate (42.1%) are sitting at career-low figures. Furthermore, he's still striking out 27.3% of the time, and his barrel rate has dipped for the second straight season. However, Burger has a hit in four consecutive outings, so maybe his bat is finally waking up.--Alex Ciulla

The Texas Rangers are acquiring third baseman/first baseman Jake Burger from the Miami Marlins on Tuesday night in exchange for third baseman Echedry Vargas, shortstop Max Acosta and left-hander Brayan Mendoza, according to a source. The move to add Burger adds thump to Texas' lineup after he hit 29 home runs and drove in 76 for the Marlins in 2024. He hit a career-high 34 long balls with the Chicago White Sox and Marlins in 2023 while also posting a nice .828 OPS. The former first-round selection by the White Sox in 2017 out of Missouri State University will move to a much better situation for his fantasy prospects in Texas and will be surrounded by much better hitters. Between third base, first base and designated hitter, Burger should play regularly and give fantasy managers a solid power floor with around a .250 average.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
