2 months agoWhile Detroit Lions kicker Jake Bates had a decent Week 1, making both field goal attempts and both PATs, fantasy managers should still be cautious about starting him going into Week 2’s matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He is still a rookie, who attempted his first field goal ever earlier this year. The Lions did sign Greg Joseph to the practice squad earlier in the week, so there is a chance Detroit could make the switch at kicker. Bates was not put to the test very much in Week 1 and still hasn't proven he can produce in intense situations or from a far distance. That being said, being on one of the league's best offenses makes Bates a mid-level starter as long he’s named Detroit’s kicker for Week 2.--Jacob Billingslea
