JaCoby Jones Struggling Through Spring Action
4 years agoDetroit Tigers outfielder JaCoby Jones has had a rough spring training so far. Over 42 at-bats, he's slashing .119/.213/.286 with two home runs and 14 strikeouts. Jones figures to open the year as the Tigers' starting center fielder, but he has more competition for playing time this year than he did last year. The Tigers brought in Robbie Grossman and Nomar Mazara to provide outfield depth. The team also added Rule 5 draft pick Akil Baddoo, who has been mashing through the spring, and Victor Reyes figures to play a significant role as well. Jones slashed .268/.333/.515 with five home runs, 14 RBI and 19 runs over 30 games in 2020. If he can hold a starting role, he'll have value in AL-only leagues and deep leagues, but he's not the most intriguing sleeper outfielder to target late in drafts.
