Jacoby Ellsbury’s Return Taking Time
7 years agoSuffering from a strained right oblique, New York Yankees veteran outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury is still in the preliminary stages of a return to the Yankees this spring. The 34-year-old suffered the injury on Friday while taking batting practice. Perhaps Ellsbury can get advice from teammate and fellow outfielder Aaron Hicks, who suffered the same injury last year. Hicks strained both his left and right obliques, with the former taking over three weeks to heal. Ellsbury figures to be New York’s fifth outfielder, edging out Clint Frazier, who is also currently dealing with an injury. The arrival of Giancarlo Stanton and terrific years from Hicks and Aaron Judge have relegated Ellsbury to a primary bench role for the upcoming season.
