Jacob Wilson Strains His Hamstring In Major-League Debut
4 months agoOakland Athletics shortstop prospect Jacob Wilson (hamstring) singled in his first major-league plate appearance in Friday night's blowout win over the division-rival Los Angeles Angels and also scored a run, but his big-league debut ultimately finished on a sour note after he left the contest early with a left-hamstring strain in the fourth inning. Wilson, the club's No. 1 prospect per MLB Pipeline, injured his hammy while rounding third base and scoring in the third inning. The 22-year-old was seen stretching in the dugout before trying to go out on defense the following inning, but he was eventually replaced by Max Schuemann, who would go on to homer and drive in four runs in the 13-3 win. The severity of Wilson's injury is unclear, but there's a good chance he'll need an injured-list stint, which would push Schuemann back into the starting role at shortstop in Oakland.
