Jacob deGrom Handed Tough-Luck Loss on Thursday
6 years agoNew York Mets right-hander Jacob deGrom was outdueled by the San Francisco Giants' Madison Bumgarner on Thursday in a low-scoring affair. DeGrom threw six innings, allowing just one earned run on four hits to go along with 10 strikeouts. Bumgarner was just a bit better, which dropped deGrom's record on the season to 8-8. Even with the loss, deGrom's ERA sits at a microscopic 1.71, and he remains one of the top candidates for the National League Cy Young Award despite playing on a below .500 team. DeGrom will square off with the Chicago Cubs in his next start.
