Jacob deGrom Could Be Used On Sunday
Jacob deGrom, at least briefly, against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday on short rest. Manager Luis Rojas said that it could be a start on Sunday for deGrom. The Mets would be comfortable doing it on short rest if they treat it as deGrom's bullpen day. The right-hander is starting in Game 1 of the doubleheader against the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday, but it might not be his last outing before the All-Star break. The 33-year-old is 7-2 on the season and leads all of baseball with a ridiculous 0.95 ERA, 0.54 WHIP and 14.4 K/9 in 85 innings over his 14 starts. deGrom is a must-start every time he toes the rubber, but it'll be a different story if he makes a short start on Sunday.
