Jacob deGrom Could Be Used On Sunday
4 years agoThe New York Mets are considering using starting pitcher Jacob deGrom, at least briefly, against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday on short rest. Manager Luis Rojas said that it could be a start on Sunday for deGrom. The Mets would be comfortable doing it on short rest if they treat it as deGrom's bullpen day. The right-hander is starting in Game 1 of the doubleheader against the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday, but it might not be his last outing before the All-Star break. The 33-year-old is 7-2 on the season and leads all of baseball with a ridiculous 0.95 ERA, 0.54 WHIP and 14.4 K/9 in 85 innings over his 14 starts. deGrom is a must-start every time he toes the rubber, but it'll be a different story if he makes a short start on Sunday.
