Jacob Amaya Making MLB Debut Sunday
1 year agoMiami Marlins rookie shortstop Jacob Amaya, who was called up from Triple-A Jacksonville on Saturday, is making his major-league debut on Sunday against the Washington Nationals and left-hander Patrick Corbin. Amaya is starting at shortstop and is hitting ninth in the batting order. The team's No. 9 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, earned the call-up to the Show by hitting .277/.344/.469 with nine home runs and 35 RBI in 241 plate appearances at Jacksonville. With Jean Segura (hamstring) going on the injured list, the 24-year-old could see regular playing time at the 6 in the short term. In the long term, Amaya projects for an average hit tool with 12-15 home runs per year, so fantasy managers shouldn't invest heavily just yet.
