Jack Suwinski Homers, Continues To Rake This Spring
1 year agoPittsburgh Pirates outfielder Jack Suwinski went 3-for-3 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 4-2 spring win over the Atlanta Braves. Suwinski took Charlie Morton deep in the first inning to put the Pirates on the scoreboard. It was his fourth home run of the spring. The 25-year-old is slashing .324/.361/.765 with four home runs, nine RBI, five runs scored, and a stolen base over 12 games during spring training. He is expected to be the team's everyday right fielder after the Pirates signed Michael A. Taylor on Friday to handle center field duties. Suwinski slashed .224/.339/.454 with 26 home runs, 74 RBI, 63 runs, and 13 stolen bases over 534 plate appearances in 2023. Suwinski has power/speed potential, making him a high-upside pick if fantasy managers can withstand his low batting average at his current NFBC ADP of 230.

Jack Suwinski Starting To Show Signs Of Life
9 months agoPittsburgh Pirates outfielder Jack Suwinski went 2-for-5 with two runs, two RBI and a solo home run in Tuesday's blowout victory versus the division rival Milwaukee Brewers. Suwinski entered the season as a popular sleeper, but has mostly struggled at the dish this season and even saw some time in Triple-A, before recently being brought back up. Despite his early season struggles, the left-handed bat has started to show some signs of life with nine hits over his last 35 at-bats, including three homers. In the deepest of mixed leagues, his power potential makes him worth a dart throw, but he is best served as a watch-list candidate for the time being.

Jack Suwinski Sitting Against Lefty On Saturday
9 months agoPittsburgh Pirates outfielder Jack Suwinski is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's contest against the hosting Atlanta Braves and left-hander Max Fried. Interestingly, the 25-year-old has put forth reverse splits in the 2024 season, hitting .242 with a .628 OPS on the season against lefties while hitting just .156 with .534 OPS against righties. Of course, his numbers this season have been a major disappointment for fantasy managers as Suwinski is hitting .171 with six homers, five steals, and a .550 OPS on the season after hitting .224 with 26 home runs, 13 stolen bases, and a .793 OPS across 144 games in the 2023 season. There is certainly some second-half bounce-back potential considering his lowly .218 BABIP but it's also worth noting that Suwinski's .280 xwOBA ranks in the league's 11th percentile.

Jack Suwinski Provides Only Offense In Victory
10 months agoAfter being recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis earlier in the day, Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Jack Suwinski would provide the only offense in a victory against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Suwinski went 1-for-4 on the evening and took Tyler Glasnow deep for a solo home run in the bottom of the third inning to lead the Pirates to their 28th victory. Suwinski has shown power in the past with 50 career home runs, but has struggled this season with a .177 batting average and five homers to go along with 14 RBI and five stolen bases. His time in Triple-A may be what he needed to get going and managers searching for power should watch and see what Suwinski does over the next few days as he could be a solid one-category pickup.

Jack Suwinski Recalled And Starting Tuesday
10 months agoThe Pittsburgh Pirates recalled outfielder Jack Suwinski from Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday and placed outfielder Ji Hwan Bae (wrist) on the 10-day injured list with a sprained right wrist in a corresponding move. The team also added Liover Peguero to the active roster and placed outfielder Michael Taylor on the paternity list. Suwinski is starting in center field and batting ninth on Tuesday against Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Tyler Glasnow. In 29 plate appearances for Indy, the 25-year-old Suwinski hit .250 with a homer and will now get another shot to prove he deserves playing time in center field against right-handers in the big leagues with both Bae and Taylor not with the team. Suwinski hit just .224 last year but did manager an impressive 26 home runs, 74 RBI and 13 stolen bases for the Bucs.
