Jack Flaherty Leaves Early Thursday Following Comebacker
2 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals pitcher Jack Flaherty left Thursday's contest with the Angels after being hit on the hand by a comebacker. The right-hander was struggling mightily prior to departing and ended up being charged with 10 earned runs on nine hits, a walk, and a hit-by-pitch while striking out three across just 2 1/3 innings pitched. After yielding just three earned runs over his first three starts of the season, the 27-year-old has surrendered 21 runs over his last four outings spanning 19 innings of work. Flaherty's season-long ERA now sits at an elevated 6.29 while it's not clear whether or not he will be able to make his next scheduled start on Tuesday at Wrigley Field against the Chicago Cubs.
