J.A. Happ Pitches Six Strong Innings
7 years agoToronto Blue Jays Starting Pitcher J.A. Happ pitched a gem on Monday night, striking out nine Orioles and giving up five hits and three walks in six innings in order to claim his second win of the season. It was a bounce-back effort for Happ, as he was coming off a shaky start against the White Sox where he gave up four runs, including two homers, in just 5 1/3 innings. His lone blemish was a solo shot by a scorching-hot Manny Machado. While his 3.94 ERA and 1.31 WHIP are indicative of his uneven start to the season, his 12.9 K/9 is quite impressive and would represent a significant increase over his 8.8 mark from last year. He'll look to keep his momentum going next week as he'll face a tough Indians lineup in Cleveland.
