J.P. Feyereisen Acquired By The Dodgers
2 years agoThe Los Angeles Dodgers acquired right-handed relief pitcher J.P. Feyereisen (shoulder) from the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday in exchange for a minor-league pitcher, according to sources. The Rays designated Feyereisen for assignment on Tuesday to make room for the recently signed Zach Eflin. Feyereisen had surgery on his rotator cuff and labrum earlier this month and is expected to miss a large chunk of the 2023 season. The 29-year-old isn't expected to resume throwing for four months, so the Dodgers won't have him until later in the 2023 season. But when healthy, he could occupy a high-leverage role in LA's bullpen after he threw 24 1/3 scoreless innings with 25 strikeouts for the Rays in 2022. Feyereisen has a 2.31 career ERA with four saves and a 1.00 WHIP in three major-league seasons.
